Education and Early Achievements

Oleg Sheremeta was born into a musical family in Ukraine and began studying flute and piano at an early age, demonstrating exceptional musical talent. He graduated from the renowned Solomiya Krushelnytska Lviv Special Music School, where he quickly distinguished himself in international competitions. In 2002, he won First Prize at the National Wind Instruments Competition of Ukraine, and from 2001 onwards, he was awarded the Presidential Scholarship, becoming one of the school’s most outstanding students.

In 2003, Sheremeta was admitted to the Tchaikovsky National Music Academy of Ukraine, where he studied under the renowned flutist Professor Oleg Kudryashov, a People’s Artist of Ukraine. Professor Kudryashov, a graduate of the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory and the Paris Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse, was one of the most celebrated flutists in the Soviet Union. In 2008, Sheremeta completed his Master’s degree with honors and continued his postgraduate studies while serving as an Assistant Professor at the Tchaikovsky National Music Academy of Ukraine, beginning his teaching career.

During his studies, he participated in masterclasses with world-class musicians including Emmanuel Pahud (Principal Flute of the Berlin Philharmonic), András Adorján, Andrea Lieberknecht, and others, continuously refining his artistry and achieving success in numerous national and international competitions.

Professional Performance Career

From 2006 to 2016, Sheremeta served as Principal Flute of the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine, a pivotal milestone in his career. During this period, he toured with the orchestra in 24 countries across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, participating in hundreds of concerts and recording projects, and gaining extensive stage experience and international perspective.

As a soloist and conductor, Sheremeta established deep collaborative relationships with numerous prestigious orchestras, including the Lviv National Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, Kyiv Symphony Orchestra, National Radio Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine, Lviv Chamber Orchestra, Kyiv Classic Orchestra, and New Era Orchestra. He was invited to perform at renowned international festivals such as Junge Klassik Festival (Germany), Freiburg Summer Music Festival (Germany), Warsaw Autumn Festival (Poland), Contrasts International Contemporary Music Festival (Ukraine), Kyiv Music Fest, Two Days and Two Nights of New Music Festival (Ukraine), and the Gogolfest, earning widespread acclaim for his virtuosic performances and distinctive artistic interpretations.

The China Chapter

In 2016, driven by a desire for new challenges and a mission to promote cultural exchange between East and West, Sheremeta relocated to China, opening a new chapter in his career. He first served as Professor of Flute and Artistic Advisor to the President at Kunming Art Vocational College, making significant contributions to the institution’s internationalization.

From 2017 to 2022, Sheremeta played a pivotal role in establishing the Kunming International Philharmonic Orchestra, serving as Deputy Director, General Manager, and Resident Conductor. He managed most of the orchestra’s production processes, including organizing live auditions in Ukraine, Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan, and China; recruiting musicians from 13 countries; overseeing rehearsal and concert production processes; and conducting numerous performances. Under his leadership, the orchestra successfully completed approximately 200 projects in China and abroad, establishing itself as a significant symphonic presence in Southwest China.

In 2022, Sheremeta was invited to join the newly established Shanghai Jiukeshu Philharmonic Orchestra as Deputy Director and Resident Conductor. During his tenure, he collaborated closely with distinguished conductors including Tang Muhai, Chen Xieyang, and Hong Yiquan, contributing to the orchestra’s artistic planning and management, and further enriching his experience in large-scale symphonic orchestra operations.

Dengtai Artists and Current Activities

In 2022, Sheremeta founded DengTai Artists, a professional arts organization dedicated to promoting cultural and artistic exchange between China and the West. As Founder and Artistic Director, he is responsible for planning and producing various concerts, music festivals, and cultural exchange activities, bringing high-quality international performances to Chinese audiences.

Currently, Sheremeta serves as Artistic Director of multiple musical ensembles and regularly performs throughout China as a conductor, flute soloist, and chamber musician. He is also actively engaged in musical arrangement and composition, creating and adapting works for orchestras of various sizes. Additionally, he regularly conducts masterclasses and organizes diverse educational activities, committed to nurturing the next generation of musicians and popularizing classical music culture.

Sheremeta possesses a profound understanding of both Eastern and Western musical traditions, with a particular talent for integrating Western classical music traditions with Chinese musical elements, creating distinctive artistic interpretations.
