In 2016, driven by a desire for new challenges and a mission to promote cultural exchange between East and West, Sheremeta relocated to China, opening a new chapter in his career. He first served as Professor of Flute and Artistic Advisor to the President at Kunming Art Vocational College, making significant contributions to the institution’s internationalization.
From 2017 to 2022, Sheremeta played a pivotal role in establishing the Kunming International Philharmonic Orchestra, serving as Deputy Director, General Manager, and Resident Conductor. He managed most of the orchestra’s production processes, including organizing live auditions in Ukraine, Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan, and China; recruiting musicians from 13 countries; overseeing rehearsal and concert production processes; and conducting numerous performances. Under his leadership, the orchestra successfully completed approximately 200 projects in China and abroad, establishing itself as a significant symphonic presence in Southwest China.
In 2022, Sheremeta was invited to join the newly established Shanghai Jiukeshu Philharmonic Orchestra as Deputy Director and Resident Conductor. During his tenure, he collaborated closely with distinguished conductors including Tang Muhai, Chen Xieyang, and Hong Yiquan, contributing to the orchestra’s artistic planning and management, and further enriching his experience in large-scale symphonic orchestra operations.
