Affiliated Ensembles: The Szymanowski String Quartet

Volodia Mykytka comes from a Ukrainian family of musicians and is one of the most versatile and sought-after violists in the world today. As a soloist, founding member of the Szymanowski String Quartet, and a chamber music partner, he has performed in over 40 countries. His performances have taken place in prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall in New York, Wigmore Hall in London, Philharmonie de Paris, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Conservatory in Tel Aviv, Shanghai Symphony Hall, Angel Place in Sydney, and Konzerthaus in Berlin. He has also participated in renowned music festivals, including the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, Rheingau Musikfestival, Schubertiade Schwarzenberg, and the Kammermusikfest Lockenhaus.

Biography

Born in Lviv, Volodia began studying the violin at the age of five and attended the Lviv Conservatory of Music, studying with Alexander Weisfeld and his father, Arthur Mikitka. Later, he continued his studies at the Warsaw Conservatory under Janusz Kucharski. From 1995 he expanded his musical career and horizons as a soloist and viola player of the Szymanowski Quartet at the Hanover Conservatory of Music with Hatto Beyeler.

During his student years, Volodia Mykytka received numerous awards at international competitions, including the “In Memoriam Dimitri Shostakovich” in Hanover, as well as prizes and audience awards at the International Chamber Music Competitions in Osaka and Melbourne.
